Death metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music. It typically employs heavily distorted guitars, tremolo picking, deep growling vocals, blast beat drumming, minor keys or atonality, and complex song structures.
Does that sound intense? It is, we promise!
We’ll admit, we haven’t always been death metal fans, but when Obituary walked into the UNATION offices, it was impossible not to fall in love with their passion. These guys love what they do, and the more they talked about their music – the more we wanted to hear it.

What’s so special about this stream?
Any true death meal aficionado will tell you that the genre was born in the mid-1980’s, and that by 1989 Obituary, and a few other Florida bands, had become such an integral part of the scene that the term “Florida death metal” was coined.
The death metal genre reached its commercial peak by the mid 1990’s, but it still draws a massive and deeply passionate underground following today. The sets being played in this Obituary stream come directly from the albums they recoded in the height of the death metal heyday. "Slowly We Rot" (1989), "Cause of Death" (1990) and "The End Complete" (1992) — the show will also be an opportunity to feature new lead guitarist Kenny Andrews.
Contrary to rumors (cough-cough) the show will be streamed in full HD quality, with multiple camera angles, 100% live on June 8th from the Orpheum in Tampa's Ybor City.
Don't miss this incredible concert of the songs that helped shape and form death metal forever!
